Broomfield News – CEO of Development Corp. to Resign

by max on May 7, 2011

Jessica Erickson, president and CEO of the Broomfield Economic Development Corp. (BECD) will resign on May 21st to take a position with the City of Thornton’s economic development department. Her resignation comes after seven years of service, working to develop and improve Broomfield’s commercial sector.

BECD, a private-public partnership organization, offers support for new and established businesses in Broomfield’s largely tech-based economy. Recent BECD-supported projects include the 120th Avenue Connection, the 1st Bank Center, Broomfield Civic Center, and Connect Broomfield, a business retention program for which Erickson played a crucial role during her time with the organization.

Erickson was named CEO this past September, having been with BECD since September 2004. Her resignation announcement on Monday came just three days after Joe McClure resigned as Broomfield’s internal economic development director. Erickson’s replacement has yet to be announced.

The City of Thornton’s economic development department operates in a similar capacity to BECD, offering business support services in that city. The Department administers grants and offers business counseling, along with other services. Erickson did not expound upon her new role with the City of Thornton.
