Here are some helpful tips to make your garage sale a success! In this post, we’ll cover key strategies for organizing your items, setting up an inviting sale space, and preparing for a smooth experience on the day of the sale. Whether you’re decluttering or looking to make some extra cash, these tips will help you stay organized and maximize your profits. Let’s get started!
Before the sale
- Collect and clean items: Before the sale, take some time to go through your items. Give them a quick clean and spruce them up to make them more appealing to buyers.
- Assess item value: Research the value of your items before pricing them. Check platforms like Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, and Google for pricing insights.
- Figure out your layout: Before your sale, figure out how you are going to arrange your items to make them more appealing to buyers. Group similar items in a box with a clear price label. For example if you have many fridge magnets, put them in a box labeled $3 each.
- Get change: Before the sale, have at least $100 in change, including ones, fives, tens, and twenties.
- Set up alternative payment methods: Offer multiple payment options, including Venmo, Cash App, and Zelle. Print QR codes for each method to make payments easy. For more information and assistance, click HERE.
- Set up the night before: If possible, prepare the night before the sale. Set up tables or sheets for display and create price tags in advance to save time on the day of the sale.
Day of sale
- Set up early: Set up your sale early so buyers can start browsing as soon as it begins! If you received garage sale pointers from us, place them as soon as possible to help direct buyers to your sale. (To request signs call 720-909-1469 or email anna@kasselrealty.com)
- Be attentive: Always have someone tending the sale to help answer buyer’s questions and concerns
- Be prepared to haggle: Haggling is a natural part of garage sales. Don’t hesitate to negotiate with buyers to reach a fair deal for both of you.
- Rearrange items as needed: As things begin to sell make sure you continue to move your items around to make them as appealing as possible!
- Adjust prices if needed: As the sale winds down, adjust prices as needed. If certain items aren’t selling, consider lowering the price to attract more buyers.
After sale
- Sign collection: We will be collecting pointer signs 30 minutes to an hour after the garage sale is completed.
- Arc Collection: If you have extra items that you were not able sell, ARC does free collection and pick up from your home! Click HERE to view what the they accept, when ARC will pick up, and how to schedule a pick up.
- Keep your eyes peeled: Kassel and Associates is putting together a fun social media post for the Northmoor Estates garage sale! Make sure to check out our socials (linked below) to see what we put together after the sale is completed.
