Broomfield is launching a new trash policy- But what is this policy? On March 31st 2025 Broomfield will now only be using one trash service company. This means that private trash companies will no longer be used for certain residents living in Broomfield.

What must included residents do?
All residents who will be added to the policy (scroll down to see who will be included) must use Broomfield’s designated trash service. If residents do not want to be apart of the service they have the option to opt out for $10.50 per month.
What are my options for trash and recycling through Broomfield’s new trash service?
One 35 Gallon Trash Can – $10.50 each month
One 65 Gallon Trash Can – $19.43 each month
One 95 Gallon Trash Can- $29.93 each month
Each household will get one free 95 gallon recycling bin
(For any additional bags not inside the trash can, the household will be charged $3.50 for each bag)
What are the fees I might have to pay?
- Opt-out fee: You will pay $10.50 each month to the city of Broomfield if you do not want to use Broomfield’s trash service
- Bulky Item fee: You will have to pay $25 for each item that doesn’t fit into the provided trash cans
- Return Trip fee: If a household forgets to put out their trash they have the option to contact Waste Connections and request a return trip. This trip can be a fee up to $65.
*This new trash policy will be enacted for:
- Residents in single-family homes or small multifamily complexes (7 or fewer units) that are not part of an HOA with a waste and recycling contract.
- Residents who don’t live in a HOA
- Residents who live in HOAs without a contracted waste and recycling hauler
The policy will be enacted for those living:
- Between Midway Blvd. and 4th Ave.
- Between Midway Blvd. and 6th Ave.
- Between Laurel St. and Marble St.
- Between Main St. and Agate St.
Extras
- Grass clippings will be taken by Broomfield’s trash service but the clippings must be in a trash bag
- You may be eligible for discounts and accommodations for Broomfield’s trash service
